Juror

Kelvin Ho is the founder and principal architect of Akin Atelier, a Sydney-based spatial communications practice.

Founded in 2005, Akin Atelier is a multi-disciplinary practice whose clients and collaborators include Merivale, Qantas, Dion Lee, Camilla and Marc, the Art Gallery of NSW, and The Australian Ballet.

Akin Atelier’s more than 600 works greatly vary in typology, spanning cultural, retail, hospitality, resort, public space, set design, and private residential projects. Two things are at the centre of Kelvin’s approach to design: a curiosity for bringing spaces to life, and a commitment to shaping meaningful experiences for – and positive impacts on – the people who inhabit and occupy these spaces.

Creatively driven by skate culture, art, film, and fashion, Kelvin has developed a style characterized by deep knowledge of client and brand, dedicated focus on concept, and meticulous planning. He believes successful spatial design merges a narrative with contextual, historical, and social reference points with physical spatial qualities – while expressing the DNA of a brand and creating an emotional response or connection for the audience.

Kelvin actively contributes to the local Australian design community by presenting at creative conferences and discussion panels, delivering university lectures, and serving on design award judging panels.
